Alberta by Tiff

“It feels like going home,” Rich stated as we drove up the gravel road towards our friends home in the Plains of Alberta.

“Really?”  After being  married for 18 years I am still surprised at times.
Rich was referring to the close friendship, and like minded culture that we share together with this family. We had such a wonderful and fun time together; all 19 of us. After 2 nights nobody wanted to leave….and their 9 year old son committed to building a room off of their house for Kaitlyn when she turns 18 😊

Next we visited our friends and mentors from when we were first married. They are spending much of thier “retirment”  in  missions, and don’t stop  talking about Jesus and things he is doing around the world! They just returned from an intense assignment in Southern Sudan. It was so refreshing to sit at their feet again, this time with our children. They live their motto to: “love the one in front of you.”

Today we crossed the Saskatchewan boarder where we will be meeting up with the President of Miller Bible College.

As we drive we are enjoying reading and discussing the Bible and important topics together.  We also enjoy music, and have finished reading ” Unashamed”. Kaitlyn is now reading one Christian’s favorite books: “Called for Life”, by Kent and Amber Brantly.  Kent was a missionary doctor in Liberia when Ebola struck. Thier faith in the midst of such life threatening disease-which he contacted and nearly died from- makes our poison oak seem pretty minor. However, we are still so thankful for your prayers, and we are also thankful that -to date-the little boys poison oak has not continued to spend throughout our family.

PS We are  currently driving through torrential rain, with a tornato watch warning…..ok, I am a bit stressed; but at least it is cleaning off the thick layer of bugs plastered on the front of our van……
PS 2  the weather has digressed to the worst storm we have ever seen….we can hardly see for the rain, and are praying for wisdom and protection…..there are strong, large bolts of lightening and thunder….. we have nowhere to pull over….surrounding us are only open fields and telephone wires……
PS 3 prayed and sang the last several miles while driving very slowly to our destinaton….recognised our frailty, and feeling thankful to be safe and together.

What a great motto ‘love the one in front of you’. A good reminder for me today 🙂 Praying for you all!
